The landscape

The landscape: what law firms are buying in 2026

What exists, what it costs, and when a tool is enough versus when a build pays.

Intake
Lawmatics, Clio Grow, Smith.ai for law firms
Enough, or build?Enough for a firm with one practice area. A build pays when screening differs by practice area, conflicts need checking, and the summary must land in your system.
Answering
Ruby, Smith.ai, AI receptionists
Enough, or build?Human services cost more per call; AI answers everything at once. The build is the intake logic behind the greeting.
Drafting and research
Clio Duo, CoCounsel, Harvey (larger firms)
Enough, or build?Buy these. We connect them so the intake summary and the engagement letter come out of the same record.
Practice management
Clio, MyCase, PracticePanther
Enough, or build?Keep it. Intake, contacts and consultations should land there without anyone retyping.

What this industry buys
01

Intake and screening

Your qualifying questions, asked in your order, with conflicts flagged and the summary on the attorney's desk before the consultation.

02

After-hours answering

Calls answered at 9pm and on Sunday, urgent matters routed to the on-call attorney.

03

Consultation booking and follow-up

Booked on the right calendar, confirmed, reminded, and rescheduled without a paralegal in the loop.

04

Drafting support

Engagement letters, intake summaries and routine correspondence drafted for review, never sent alone.

No client case study for this one yet — we'd rather tell you that than fake a logo wall. What we have shipped is on the Work page.

Common questions

What owners ask before they commit.

Does the assistant give legal advice?
Never. It explains what the firm does, collects the facts you tell it to collect, and books the consultation. Any question that calls for legal judgment is passed to an attorney with the full conversation attached.
Is it confidential?
Yes, by design: conversations are stored in systems you control, the AI vendors in the chain are bound by contract, and nothing is used to train anyone's model. The setup is documented so you can show it to your bar's ethics counsel.
Will it work with Clio or my practice management software?
Yes. Intake summaries, contacts and consultations land in Clio, MyCase, Lawmatics or whatever you run, so nobody retypes anything.
What does this cost for a small firm?
It depends on how many practice areas and attorneys it screens for, and you get a fixed quote after the free first call.
Do you have law firm clients?
Not yet in the US, and we'd rather say so than invent one. The receptionist and follow-up systems are the same ones answering live calls for our other clients, and the demo assistants on the portfolio show how intake works in a text thread.
